History

Due to the St. Kathrein thermal spa (formerly "Alpentherme") being much frequented, the Bad Kleinkirchheimer Bergbahnen, Sport- und Kuranlagen GesmbH decided to build another spa centre in 1978, directly next to the Kaiserburgbahn valley station.
The architect, Prachensky, from Innsbruck, was commissioned with the planning and conception of the new thermal spa.
Construction work began on 1st October 1978; in December 1979 the spa centre was inaugurated. The aim was to offer relaxation and bathing like the Romans once enjoyed, and therefore the spa was called "Römerbad", the Roman baths.
The Römerbad thermal spa was Austria's first fun spa.
The Römerbad attracts particularly keen little swimmers with its water slide, the waterfall, the torrent and its various water fountains and water nozzles.
"From the pistes to the thermal spa" - nowhere else does this slogan become more apparent than in the Römerbad thermal spa, where you can watch the skiers swinging down the slopes in winter or the hikers walking in summer while enjoying the thermal water.
