History

The thermal spring below the chapel of St. Kathrein was historically mentioned for the first time more than 500 years ago. Even at that time the curative effect of the spring was appreciated and so this fountain of youth became a public magnet. The emergence of this gem in its paradisiacal environment has always been shrouded in mystery. According to one legend, God Almighty dropped a tear of joy on the wonder of his Creation at that place, which has been an eternal curative spring from that time on.

The water of this fountain of youth gushes out of the earth, fresh from the spring, at 36 degrees Celsius and has a mineral content which does not exceed 1000 mg/l - therefore the thermal water is also called "acratothermal". The thermal water of Bad Kleinkirchheim is useful in many ways - to strengthen the circulation, to boost the immune system against infectious diseases, to strengthen the connective tissue and vessels and to relieve rheumatic diseases.

Bad Kleinkirchheim has 2 springs; the delivery of the springs is 12 and 13 l/s, the drilled depth (near the Kathrein church) is 120 m.
