18-hole Kaiserburg golf course
Bad Kleinkirchheim Golf Club
The best hole:
Number 12, a Par 5, that requires a powerful drive downhill and the "tigerline".
If you are playing on the fairways 10, 11, 17 and 18, which lead through a wooded area, it's better to leave your driver in your golf bag.
1st hole: 443 m / 379 m. Par 5 - HCP 5
A tricky hole for the beginning. Everyone watching you from the club house above, to the left is the driving range and there's a small stream at driving level that you have to play past so that you can continue with the number 3 iron to conquer the elevated green plateau. After putting, enjoy the incredible view from the top of the hill.
2nd hole: 407 m / 359 m. Par 4 - HCP 7
At the tee-off downhill try to keep to the right because that's where the 8th fairway is. The green won't cause big problems. Don't forget to crouch while reading.
3rd hole: 329 m / 282 m. Par 4 - HCP 13
Twice with a good number 5 iron - and this tricky hole loses its scariness. You have to play the green in a short manner because on the right side and behind it there is a fast flowing stream which swallows balls.
4th hole: 373 m / 283 m. Par 4 - HCP 11
A hook during the drive is ideal. The second shot is challenging: It has to be hit powerfully across a small brook up to a billowy green. Avoid the bunker!
5th hole: 156 m / 142 m. Par 3 - HCP 17
I like this hole very much. To the left of it is the final schuss of the "K 70" ski run which is named after me, you see.
6th hole: 376 m / 330 m. Par 4 - HCP 3
Not only for me is this the toughest hole. You have to play over three lots of water to reach the green peninsula. Here I often play a bogey right from the beginning.
7th hole: 135 m / 126 m. Par 3 - HCP 15
For ladies and gentlemen of the same "quality". Always check the wind before choosing your iron.
8th hole: 470 m / 418 m. Par 5 - HCP 9
When the wind is blowing the right way even an eagle is possible. You have to accept penalty shots if the flag stays in the hole while putting.
9th hole: 422 m / 370 m. Par 4 - HCP 1
A titbit for golfers which easily gets stuck in the throat. If the second shot across the pond seems too long, switch to the parallel first fairway. Not very elegant but effective!
10th hole: 296 m / 245 m. Par 4 - HCP 14
Incredibly narrow. Whoever chooses a number 5 iron will not be sneered at.
11th hole: 119 m / 109 m. Par 3 - HCP 18
A wedge bolt upright. Take a deep breath and carry on. No chickening out allowed! Red stakes reduce the fiasco.
12th hole: 465 m / 434 m. Par 5 - HCP 6
A dream of a hole. At the drive I avoid the boundary to the right.
13th hole: 382 m / 333 m. Par 4 - HCP 12
At least a 100 m tee-off is required because between the tee and fairway there is only a biotope. And don't even try searching for balls there....
14th hole: 507 m / 457 m. Par 5 - HCP 4
A total attack on the green is often predestined to fail. In case of doubt I put up with an additional shot. The trout in the pond will thank you by jumping in the air for joy.
15th hole: 384 m / 295 m. Par 4- HCP 10
For the ladies I recommend a 5 iron for the tee-off over the biotope. That should be enough to get over it. The rest is not tricky and you can play it without great difficulties.
16th hole: 361 m / 311 m. Par 4 - HCP 8
Dogleg to the right. Whoever chooses the direct way could be mistaken. After putting I enjoy the luxury of being chauffeured to the 17th hole. Make small talk and catch your breath.
17th hole: 120 m / 108 m. Par 3 - HCP 16
Here I attack with a number 9 iron, uncompromisingly.
18th hole: 261 m / 231 m. Par 4 - HCP 2
The mouse trap. Here I play a safety shot first with a 6 iron. The final shot on the high, not visible green is always challenging. Take at least one iron higher up than it seems to need! After the final putt I always congratulate my partners, for the fair game, the lady tee or whatever.
